Burj Khalifa is the tallest skyscraper in the world at 829.8 m height located in Dubai. Along with this, the title of the tallest freestanding building, the fastest and tallest lift, the tallest mosque, the tallest swimming pool, the second tallest observation deck and the tallest restaurant is also named after Burj Khalifa. This building with 163 floors is also the highest floor building in the world.

The construction of the Burj Khalifa took six years and cost eight billion dollars. Its construction began on September 21, 2004 and was officially inaugurated on January 4, 2010. More than 1,10,000 tons of concrete, more than 55,000 tons of steel rebar have been installed in the building construction.
On seeing the Burj Khalifa, it is felt that this building is made of glass and steel. The outer covering of the building is made of 26,000 glass panels. 300 cover specialists were specially invited from China for glass cover. Around 12,000 laborers worked daily in the construction of the building.
Due to the height, the temperature on the top floor of the building is 15 ° C lower than the ground floor.
It is also interesting to note that this building was named Burj Dubai at the time of construction but it was renamed Burj Khalifa at the inauguration in honor of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who financed the building.
The lift of this building runs at a speed of 65 kilometers per hour and reaches the observation deck ‘at the top’ on the 124th floor of the building in just two minutes. Tourists can view the view of Dubai with the telescope on this observation deck.
The world’s highest swimming pool on the 76th floor of the building and the world’s tallest mosque on the 158th floor and the world’s tallest nightclub on the 144th.
According to the website www.burjkhalifa.ae, the water supply department for the tower supplies 9,46,000 liters of onsite throughout the day.
This building has also been surrounded by controversies. Human rights organizations had alleged that most of the laborers in the construction of the building were from South Asia and were given only five dollars a day as wages. Apart from this, questions were also raised on the electricity spent in AC to keep it cool.
